These methods are ONLY for people utilizing GAPS or ARP.
If you have an anaphylactic allergy to any food, please do not introduce until you have been on the healing protocol for two years and only then with the help and advice of a coach or practitioner.
If you have Alpha-Gal that is not yet anaphylactic, you may begin with the instructions in the Food Intolerances section but make sure to do a topical micro-dose until you no longer have a reaction on the skin. Do this only after following one of the above protocols for six months or more.
Intolerance vs Tolerated Reaction
Intolerance refers to a reaction which you cannot tolerate. This will be different from person to person, but could be a painful rash, severe cramping, tics, or big mood swings. A tolerated reaction is less severe. Some examples might be mild flatulence, mild cramping, diarrhea, or a small rash.
Food Intolerances
Follow this method if you have a known intolerance to any of the foods.
Prerequisite: Having been on GAPS/ARP for six months.
The Basic Method
Step 1
Place a drop on the inside of your wrist and wait 12 hours. If a red mark appears, wait and try again in three weeks. If you have another red mark on the skin, wait another three weeks and so on until there is no reaction from the skin after application. If there is no red mark, move on to Step 2.
Step 2
Now you will begin to ingest the food. To do this, you will place a toothpick in the food and then into your meat stock. Do not hurry this process. Once you have reached ten “toothpick drops”, switch the toothpick out for a dropper and continue.
When you are up to five teaspoons in meat stock, it’s time to try the food straight. While you are having stock, try a “toothpick drop” on a spoon. Gradually work your way up to five teaspoons. Then work on increasing the quantity to as much as you like. You want to engage in this process until you can have the six cups of stock, a quart of fermented dairy, a few tablespoons of fermented vegetables, a stick of butter, cup of ghee, etc.
Note: Only introduce one food that you react to at a time. Even if you are on GAPS Intro and it is time to introduce a new food, stay where you are until you have tolerated the current food that you are working on before adding a new one.1
If meat stock is what you react to:
Place the dose of meat stock in a 4 oz glass of water with mineral salt. Increase daily by 100%. If you have a reaction, move back to the previous “dose” and stay there for 5 days. Begin increasing again, repeating the decrease and pause for five days if a reaction takes place.
Tolerated Reactions to Food
Follow this method if you CAN tolerate the reaction to the food.
Prerequisite: Having been on GAPS/ARP for 3 months,
or having resolved your insulin resistance.
If you tolerate the reaction a food causes, you can begin with a larger dose than if you do not tolerate the reaction. Use a teaspoon of the food you are reacting to and place it in meat stock2. Increase the amount by 50% every three days. If you have a reaction, move back one dose and stay there for five days. Increase again and decrease or pause if needed. You will increase the amount until you are having the food daily and in the amount that is suggested for healing.
